The two most important works by Dr. Maier for the study of crusades preaching include his work Preaching the Crusade: Mendicant Friars and the Cross in the Thirteenth Century published by Cambridge University Press in 1994 and Crusade Propaganda and Ideology: Model Sermons for the Preaching of the Cross also published by Cambridge University Press in 2000. He also serves as the book reviews editor for Crusades: The Journal for the Society for the Study of the Crusades and the Latin East[SSCLE].
