The purpose of this section is to provide quick reference to professional information about past and present  scholars and popular writers on the crusades. Scholars, as opposed to popular writers, are defined here by their having been professionally trained in historical research at the PHD level and by their affiliation with a University or College in a scholarly capacity. Not all scholars included here necessarily focused (or focus) on the Crusades, but all have in some way contributed valuable scholarship or have influenced popular perceptions of the crusades. Some of those listed as scholars are graduate students who are already making a name for themselves.
