Richard of Devizes
Nothing is known of Richard of Devizes except for what he informs us of in the preface of his chronicle about Richard the Lionheart's involvement in the Crusades titled, Chronicon de Rebus Gestis Recardi Primi [Chronicle of the Deeds of Richard I]. From this sources, it appears that he was once a monk at St. Swithin's Priory at Winchester, and later a Carthusian of Witham.

Other works have been ascribed to the same author but there is much doubt about whether Richard was their true author. His chronicle is valuable because it presents events happening in England during the Crusades as well as events taking place in the Holy Land.
