| The English chronicler Roger of Hoveden (d. 1201) wrote a lengthy chronicle covering English history from 732 to 1201. The work's title has been commonly translated as The Annals, comprising The History of England and of Other Countries of Europe from AD 732 to AD 1201.(1) As a contemporary of Richard the Lionheart, Roger's work is an excellent source for how events in England affected events in the Holy Land during the Third Crusade.
